Description

"Dearest Shuchen, The first time you came to me, we tattooed a beautiful quote from one of my most favorite books, "The Little Prince" and you told me of how you were bullied in school and suffered from an eating disorder. Fast forward half a year, I see you with your head in the books, more determined than ever to make a future, happier, and so strong. Then you hit me with the request for this tattoo, and your story was so beautiful. I'm proud that you put your foot down and bravely told your parents back at home in China that you wished to stay in the states and not return to take on the family business. No parent wants to hear that their next moment with their child will be indefinitely farther away, but your mother's words of acceptance and love has to be shared. "We love you just like the bow loves the arrow, as much as we want you to stay or come back, we know that you will do so much better in where you truly want to be. The arrow shoots to the sky so bravely that it doesn’t care if there’s danger in the front, and that just reminds me so much of the 15 year old you leaving home and moving to a new country by yourself. I remember at the airport when you were leaving for the first time with 3 29-inch suitcases, I said to you “come back home if it’s too hard”, and you said “mom I will be fine, if it doesn’t hurt a little, what is the point of challenging the life?” You were so strong and fearless, and you still are all of those with so much more. I want to be the person that I needed when I was younger to you, and so does your dad. We will be your backbone, your bow that supports you no matter what which our whole hearts. The arrow never comes back to the bow, and we will never ask you to stop living your life forward." It's such an honor to design this in honor of your mother. May you always keep flying, shooting for the stars and happiness. Always yours, Ghinko"
